London University Golf Club is a competitive golfing society open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students, both male and female, attending London Universities. LUGC also welcomes students from abroad who are studying at London Universities.
The club has a history dating back over 100 years and has an excellent reputation for the standard of its players both on and off the golf course. As a result the club is extremely fortunate to be invited to compete against some of the best courses in the UK, with the majority of our matches focused around the South of East of England. As a society we are extremely lucky to not only to be invited to play against some fantastic golf clubs, but also to enjoy their hospitality and meet the members. In addition to an excellent fixture list with golf clubs, LUGC is also proud to compete against both the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.
The season is a busy time with a minimum of 15 fixtures organised over the course of the year. The club has over 40 members all with solid single figure handicaps. Matches against the club members are very competitive with most clubs fielding teams featuring one or more plus-handicap players. All fixtures are played on the weekend and consist of 36 holes of match play; 18 holes of foursomes in the morning followed by 18 holes of singles in the afternoon. One of the great benefits of London University Golf Club is the chance to meet and converse with members from all walks of life.
Socials are organised throughout the year where the members of LUGC routinely gather particularly on the weekends where no fixtures are organised. Members of the club also gather for a Christmas and End-of-Season meal at the end of both semesters.
